Winner of seven Tony Awards® including
Best Musical, Score and Book, EVITA brings to life the dynamic,
larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine
dictator Juan Peron. Driven by ambition and blessed with charisma,
she is a starlet at twenty-four, First Lady at twenty-seven
and dead at thirty-three. Eva Peron - saint to the working-class,
reviled by the aristocracy and mistrusted by the military -
was destined to leave a fascinating political legacy. Exuberant
Latin, pop and jazz influences create a gripping theatrical
experience as the story is told mostly in song. The memorable
and compelling score has become one of the most popular collaborations
between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. In addition to the
7 Tony Awards, EVITA has been honored with the Outer Critics
Circle Award for Best Musical; the Olivier Award for Best Musical;
the New York and LA Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical and
the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical.

by Len Pfluger and James McQuillen returns to Lyric Stage as
