SUPPORT LYRIC STAGE
As Lyric Stage continues to uphold its mission of developing and preserving the musical, a uniquely American art form, the company also remains deeply committed to employing local actors, musicians, creatives, and fabricators, as well as providing as many opportunities as possible to develop and showcase the talents of those artists.
Additionally, Lyric Stage is now working to lower the barrier to entry for students of the arts, and to increase their exposure to musical theatre, by connecting with area schools and teachers to provide no-cost tickets to students for all Student Preview Performances, and low-cost tickets for all other performances.
Lyric Stage also continues to work on its outreach and support of local students, by sponsoring The Schmidt & Jones Awards, which were established in 2010 to honor excellence in high school musical theatre here in the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex.
Any and all charitable contributions to Lyric Stage will go directly to supporting local artists and students.
ASHLEY NEWMAN-SCHNEIDER SCHOLARSHIP
In May of 2022, Lyric Stage, and the entire DFW theatre community, lost a dear friend and colleague. To honor and remember that friend, Lyric Stage has created the Ashley Newman-Schneider Scholarship, which will be given annually to students who participate in The Schmidt & Jones Awards. The scholarships will be awarded to students in both the technical (Lighting, Scenic, Costume Design, etc) and performative (Leading Actor/Actress, Supporting Actor/Actress, Choreography, etc) aspects of theatre. For the 2022-2023 Season, Lyric Stage will also introduce the new school-submitted category of Best Stage Manager for The Schmidt & Jones Awards, which was the chosen field of expertise for our friend, Ashley. We are happy to offer and award these scholarships to those who not only excel in theatre arts, but who also wish to pursue it as a vocation and area of study.
